Don Cowan

Senior Pastor


Pastor Don and Cheryl have been married for 40 years. They are the proud parents of three children, all graduates from S.N.U. Justin the oldest is married to Erin, who is the mother of my granddaughter - Claire. Justin is the Regional Director of Netsuite, an internet development company.. Jereme is married to Courtney (a Speech Pathologist) and is a Law graduate of Duke University, currently a Lawyer and owner of his Law firm - Cowan & Friescher. Janae is married to David Power (a Law graduate from OKC  and is a Land Man for Jereme's Oil & Gas Law Firm.

Pastor Don, a 1973 graduate of Pittsburg St. University, has his Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduation he served in upper level executive management with Montgomery Ward for 15 years, serving as a store manager, before accepting his call into ministry.  He has served as senior pastor for over 20 years in churches in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama. Under Pastor Don and Cheryl’s leadership, every church has grown and become an influential church impacting the lives of many people. Pastor Don’s heart of passion is for “building and shaping people's lives” so they can be effective and influential. He is a man of integrity, people person and is faithfully committed to the highest levels of personal and professional accountability.

Along with his Bachelor of Science degree, Pastor Don also holds a Master of Ministry degree from S.N.U., graduating in 1996. His practical and diversified experience has benefited him as he has served as Assistant District Superintendent of the Alabama North District (70 churches), started new churches, refocused/restarted churches, coached/trained/counseled pastors/leaders, Disaster Response Relief Director and has been trained as a church growth/leadership consultant. His greatest joy is being with people and helping them become the "best" they can be for God.

Pastor Don and Cheryl’s passion is to see people experiencing satisfaction and fulfillment in their lives. Having interpersonal relationships with others is the driving force behind their personal and down-to-earth approach to life. They desire to build healthy people, loving people and becoming an important part of their lives. They identify well with all age groups and have an intense desire to create a positive influence in the community.
