In Matthew chapter 14, we come across a very familiar story. In this chapter, Jesus walks on water in the middle of the storm and tests Peter's faith. Peter says "Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water." And Jesus replied, "Yes, come." When Peter stepped out onto the water, his faith was very strong and his eyes were locked on Jesus. He took a few steps, but got scared from the storm and as soon as he took his eyes off of Jesus, he started to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. "You have so little faith," Jesus said. "Why did you doubt me?"

Every single one of us face the storms of this life. We have the protection of our own comforts that won't last, but we want to stay under that protection anyway. It's because we have hope. That thing that we put our trust in is the boat in the story. And we, like Peter, have to step out of our boat during the storm and go to Jesus. We can't look back! We can't take our eyes off of Him in this storm, or else we will sink. But even if we do sink, Jesus still catches us. I challenge you to step out of your boat with a bold act of faith. Don't let the storm that's raging right now be the center of your world. Let Jesus be the center and walk toward Him.
