Troubles can easily grow into tragedy for people because of a wrong attitude. The problem today was not caused by the event of yesterday, the problem today is caused by my current attitude towards that past event. Hebrews 12:14-15 instructs: "Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misse the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Be careful, be alert, because that root of bitterness will become the wellspring of your life." The Proverb says: "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the WELLSPRING of life" (Proverbs 4:23). Jesus promised us that what fills the heart will come out of the mouth: For out of the overflow of the HEART, the MOUTH speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. (Matthew 12:34b-35a). The root of bitterness fills the heart, something jars our life and suddenly, what fills the heart comes out of the mouth, and we're saying, oh, I didn't mean to say that. Well you see there was a root of bitterness deep down inside. There was anger. There was frustration. There was an attitude problem that dwelt deep within and filled the heart. A wrong attitude is like a root that extends down deep inside of us. It is not visible, yet it fills one’s life. Change the way you think and you"ll change your life!  Start by forgiving someone today who has offended you.
