I am an achiever.  I love my to-do lists and I love crossing things off!  Confession: Sometimes when I do something that was not on my list I write it on my list just so I can cross it off.  Please tell me I'm not the only one! :)

For us list-lovers, God gave us a list of His own.  The 10 Commandments.  And for those of us who like to prioritize, He even told us which commandments are the most important.  Matthew 22:35-40 says " One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’   All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Often times I catch myself considering my days good or bad based on how much I accomplish. However, after meditating on these verses, all the things I "accomplish" during the day are considered worthless if they do not bring Glory to God or bring others to His Kingdom.  My goal this week is to let go of some time-consuming activities with no eternal value and replace them with those that glorify my Father in Heaven and show others His unfailing love.  We have a limited, and ever-decreasing time on this earth.  Let's make it count for eternity!

"And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?" (Matthew 16:26)
